Deborah Sampson, a woman disguised as a man, served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Under the name Robert Shurtleff, she fought with the Fourth Massachusetts Regiment.

Despite her secret identity, Sampson proved to be a courageous and dedicated soldier. She earned the respect of her comrades but was eventually discovered when a fever exposed her true gender.

Despite being dismissed from service, Sampson was awarded an honorable discharge and a pension. She went on to share her experiences as a soldier, inspiring others to follow their dreams.
